Our pedi visit today... and other stuff

Today the babies had their 4 month well check at the pediatrician's office... and they are both doing great! As a matter of fact, they are right on track now developmentally... so the fact that they were born a little premature (about 2-3 weeks early for twins) isn't really a factor any more. Gavin is 25 3/4 inches long (in the 75-90th percentile for height) and weighs 14 lb 2.5 oz (25-50th percentile for weight). Madaleine is 25 inches long (75th percentile) and weighs 15 lb 2 oz (75-90th percentile). So they are both really tall and Maddie is a little chuncker :) And the best news of all... we got the official go ahead to start them on rice cereal twice a day. Once they learn how to take the rice cereal from the spoon, we get to start on the baby food. That will probably be in a few weeks. As far as the shots went, of course the babies HATED it... one of those things that had to be done though.

After the pedi visit we went home and the babies crashed all afternoon. When Daddy got home from work we took them to the park for the first time. By the time we got home it was time to feed them. Gavin was not thrilled at all to be eating his rice cereal. He started gagging with it... so I decided it was time to stop. I guess we will just have to try it again tomorrow. Maddie on the other hand did okay with it.... although didn't take it as easily as I thought she would have. She ate about half of what the pedi recommended we give her... I figure that's pretty good for her first real time trying it. Again, we will have to try tomorrow and hopefully both babies will start to like it a little better and get the hang of eating from a spoon.

Once we were done with the rice cereal ordeal, both babies were exhausted and ready for bath and bedtime. Len took them both upstairs and rocked them while I was getting bath water and night time things together. Len was not even rocking them for 5 min and Gavin had already fallen asleep. Once we got them in the bath tub, Gavin was still so sleepy that he actually started falling asleep in the tub... it was so cute.

So it was a big day for the babies (shots, park, feeding, etc.), so lets all keep our fingers crossed that they will sleep all night tonight! I will have to let you know how it goes!
